Jared Shoemaker, 29 years old, was a Lance Corporal in the Marine's. He was killed in action in the Al Anbar Province on Friday, September 4, 2006. He was mobilized from reserve to active duty status in December with the Anti-Tank Training Company in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Corporal Jared Shoemaker was hired by the Tulsa Police Department on January 3, 2005. He had just completed his police academy, when his Marine unit was called up for more training, then sent on to Iraq to fight in the War.
While conducting combat operations in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, Shoemaker's armored vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device about 11:15 a. m. Monday. Being a Police Officer was Jared's lifelong dream. He served the city with distinction and made the ultimate sacrifice for his country. He only served for about 6 months on the with the Tulsa Police department to the Uniform Division North as Patrol Officer before going on active duty with the Marines.
Jared Shoemaker left behind his parents and a wife.
